House G, Thuringia 2022
The building task is determined by two opposing requirements: on the one hand, accessibility is aimed for, while on the other hand, the property has a topography with diverse levels, determined by existing foundations at various levels, historical dry stone walls, and the slope.
To reconcile these two conditions, a radical simplification of the building to two level floors was made, which are accessible via an elevator. The complex, intricate topography is reflected in the various ceiling heights rather than, as usual, mirrored in the floor levels. This results in an equally versatile structure, which combines with the existing building materials of brick and responds to the topography despite the simplified spatial development.
